Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê’s College commits to a vision of Catholic education which draws on the strength of the Good Samaritan Benedictine tradition.
This tradition is centred on Jesus Christ and his mission, and is expressed through a love of learning, respect for individual differences, and a balance of personal, communal and liturgical prayer. Commitment on the part of parents to the religious and faith education of their children is necessary for enrolment. While Religious Studies is foundational to all learning at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê’s College, the faith education and formation of the College community is seen to be the responsibility of all and is an integral part of all areas of the formal and informal curriculum.
Religious Studies classes are allocated equal time in the timetable with other academic subjects. It is taught by specialist teachers in that teaching and learning area. The curriculum is designed so that students can explore, understand and come to know the essential elements of the Christian tradition and its relationship to the wider society. Deep understanding and knowing often comes through experience. While students learn about prayer, reflection, sacramental and liturgical life opportunities, to experience these are given through Reflection days, class and year liturgies, class prayer and outreach activities. In addition, Eucharist is celebrated regularly in the Mary Sheil Centre and College Chapel. They are celebrated on special days of the liturgical and College calendar and involve students, staff and parents.
